ric vs. Gas

The very first question that you will have to ask yourself before deciding on which weed wacker to buy, is “Electric or Gas?” Nowadays many outdoor power tools come in electric varieties so choosing an electric model over gas might make sense for you. In general gas power models have more kick to them, meaning they can handle thicker brushy areas, where electric weed wackers, tend to lose momentum and might not be capable of handling larger yards. So the first key is understanding the size of your lawn and that distincion might nock electric models out of the equation to begin. For mid size and small yards though, an electric model might be exactly what you are looking for. Electric weed wackers are typically lighter than gas powered, and easier to maintain too, since you don’t have to gas them up, or change out the oil.

Straight Shaft vs. Curved Shaft

Electric or gas weed wackers both come in straight shaft or curved shaft models. This means exactly what it sounds like. The straight shaft models are typically used more so by lawn care specialists and landscapers. They tend to be able to reach more in hard to trim areas and also can be easily broken down and switched with other weed wacker attachments, like leaf blowers, edgers, saws etc.. The downsize to the straight is the weight of them, and that is why the curved shaft models made an appearance. Curved shaft weed wackers are the trimmer of choice for homeowners because of the ergonomic design and lightweight.

2-cycle vs 4-cycle

Lastly you will need to decide on the engine type if you go with a gas powered weed wacker. They come in 2 stroke or 4 stroke engines. They are also called 2 and 4 cycle engines. The main difference is the type f fuel you will use, where for a 2 stroke engine the fuel will be a mix of oil and gas, where the 4 stroke takes gas only. 4 strokes are making a greater appearance in the weed wacker industry because they are also known to be more environmentally friendly since they don’t give off as much emissions as the 2 stroke weed wacker does.

So there you have the main differences you will need to know when buying a weed wacker. For more information regarding weed wackers please visit our website www.weedwackerstore.com

Deciding which weed eater to buy can be a daunting task. Gas or electric, 2-cycle or 4-cycle, straight or curved shaft etc..In this article we focus on the key differences between straight and curved shaft weed wackers so you can decide which weed eater is right for you!

By: Evan Schmidt
Weedeaters are an important piece of your lawn arsonal of outdoor power equipment. There are many differences between weed wackers, gas weed wackers or electric, 2-cycle vs. 4-cycle, and straight vs. curved shafts. Making the right decison before buying a weed wacker will save you time, frustration and money if you research them a little bit. In this article we are going to review the differences between straight shaft vs. curved shaft string trimmers.

Straight shaft weed wackers have historically been the weedeater of choice for most lawn care professionals. They are known to attack heavier weeds, and taller thicker brush better than curved shaft models. There is a debate as to which is more maneuverable, but more times out of ten the straight shaft side usually wins. The straight shaft weed wacker simply has more reach since its longer and allows more attachments like blowers, hedge trimmers, and others.. They tend to be more expensive than than curved shaft units. People that are taller tend to enjoy using a straight shaft string trimmer since they don’t have to do as much bending as with the curved.

Curved shaft trimmers were made with comfort in mind. Many people that use them feel that they are easier to maneuver and more comfortable to use. The direction of the spinning lines also varies between straight and curved. Curved shaft models will spin in the better direction as trimmings will get on your feet less as you move. Probably the best benefit of all of the curved shaft is its weight. It is usually less weight than a straight shaft. And finally shorter people tend to go with the curved shaft models of the straight shaft.

There you have it, the pros and the cons of straight shaft trimmers vs. curved. As I mentioned earlier it is important to learn about each type of weedeater so when you are ready to purchase a new one you know which weed eater is right for you!

Learn the pros and cons of each weed eater and choose the weed eater that is best for you!

By: Evan Schmidt

There are a few main differences between weed eaters that you will need to understand before going out and purchasing one. Remember that a weed eater is one of the most important pieces of lawn equipment that you will own, so the time and money that you invest in making your purchase will pay off after you see you see your lawn carefully manicured.

The group of weed eaters that we are going to discuss first are gas powered. These are the most common types of weed eaters, being that most average sized property owners might have one, and probably all landscaping professionals will have a good gas powered one in their arsenal of equipment. Gas powered weed eaters, or string trimmers as they are also called, run on either a straight gas powered fuel engine, or a combination of gas and oil. Gas powered string trimmers are knows for their power and endurance so they are usually the best pick for homeowners with big lawns, as well as landscaping pro’s. Because of their strength gas powered string trimmers can handle some tough weeds and some heavy grassy areas where their electric counterparts, which we’ll get to in a few, might have some problems with. Another huge benefit of the gas powered family, is that they are more mobile, meaning that you can just throw a gas operated string trimmer in the back of your truck or car trunk, with a can of fuel in case you need it, and not worry about a cords length, like with the electric string trimmers, or constant battery charges like you would with a battery operated string trimmer. And lastly a gas powered string trimmer can be a versatile piece of equipment, can be used on all lawns both large and small.

Now within the gas powered weed eater family you will see that they come in two different types. The 2-cycle weed eater and the 4-cycle weed eater. This is the difference in the type of engine, other known as a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke engine. The 2-cycle engine is the most common engine for weed eaters, and requires a mix of oil and gas for fuel. This can be a convenience or a hassle however you look at it. The 4-cycle weed eater, runs on straight gas like a lawnmower, but will need to have the oil changed instead of using a mix. 2-cycle weed eaters are generally lighter than 4-cycle ones, which can make a big difference if you are not use to doing extensive lawn care, or using heavy power equipment. Another key difference between the two is that a 4-cycle weed eater is friendlier to the environment letting out fewer emissions.

Okay – We have the gas powered weed eaters covered. We know the differences between a 2-cycle and 4-cycle. But we have only looked at half of what is out there. The second group of weed eaters that we are going to look at is electric weed eaters. Electric weed eaters can be either battery operated, or come with a cord attached. Let’s first talk about the ones with the cords. Electric weed eaters (with cords), are usually the cheapest of all weed eaters on the marker. For good reason though, because they are first only strong enough to handle simple weed whacking jobs, and are only good for close range weed whacking (from your house or electric power source). Yes some people might have electric outlets throughout their yard, but if your yard is that big, than I would shy away from electric weed whackers mainly do the lack of force needed to maintain a large yard. Than besides the price what else makes an electric weed whacker worth it? Well two main reasons.

1st the weight of an electric weed whacker is feather light so you can easily use it without worrying about arm sores, or back aches. 2nd it makes a lot less noise than a gas operated weed whacker so you can weed whack at night or early morning without bothering the neighbors.

Now we touched on electric weed whackers with cords, and we hit the gas powered string trimmers as well, now combine the mobility of a gas powered weed eater, with the price of an electric weed whacker and you have – “the battery operated weed wacker!” Ok, ok it’s not as impressive as I made it sound, but it really is a good solution for a combination between the two. It still is electric powered, so the battery operated weed wacker does not have the power and brut force of a gas powered unit. But, it is a whole lot better than the electric with cords since you can go around your yard cordless. The battery operated or cordless weed wacker will usually come with a charger and average batteries run between a half hour to an hour, before you need to switch batteries and recharge. They are good for an average size yard, and share the benefit for being light weight and not noisy. Electric weed eaters are also more environmentally friendly not giving off as much pollution in the air.

So there you have it a synopsis of the 3 families of weed eaters, now its time to decide which one is right for you.

A lot of yard maintenance involves the cutting of vegetables and for this there are many types of landscaping equipment that one can use.

By: anonymous
A lot of yard maintenance involves the cutting of vegetables and for this there are many types of landscaping equipment that one can use. These include gas and electric chain saws, ratchet pruners, electric hedgers as well as string trimmers.

Gas And Electric Chainsaws, Ratchet Pruners, Electric Hedgers As Well As String Trimmers

The Remington Electric Chainsaw is a gas powered chainsaw that is fueled with gas or oil mix and, even though one has to calculate the ratio, it is still quite a useful landscaping equipment. The electric version starts up easily while the gas chainsaws have a starter rope for tugging at in order to start it. Electric chainsaws are easy to handle once the cutting work begins and the 14″ Remington only weighs 5.23 pounds.

Ratchet pruners are used to easily cut thick tree branches and are more useful as the ordinary pruners do not handle such tasks. Also, the settings of the ratchet allow multiplication of the hand power and this means that all the work is done by the tool and one only has to know how to handle it. When cutting a branch, the ratchet clicks and then moves on to the next setting thus providing much more pressure as one cuts and is an ideal landscaping equipment for those who may have a hand ailment.

Electric hedge trimmers are inexpensive and lightweight pieces of landscaping equipment that, when compared with the gas operated models, are a better option. The electric hedge trimmer also starts up automatically but there are also many common features to both the electric and gas hedge trimmers.

For those who have finished mowing their lawns and need to trim those blades of grass that were not removed by the lawnmower, the cordless string trimmer would be an ideal landscaping equipment for such purposes. It would make the work relatively easy and one does not have to worry about fueling the string trimmer and it is also quite light in weight and can be easily transported from one end of the yard to the other. Having 18 volts of power may not be as efficient as the gas powered models but nevertheless, it is good for a cordless string trimmer and the battery can hold the charge for half an hour. Cordless string trimmers are also clean and portable though one does have to recharge the batteries, every now and then.

Another piece of landscaping equipment is the pole tree pruner, which is safe to use especially for those who need to trim trees that are small or medium-sized. The pole tree pruner allows a person to maintain their trees in proper shape and there is no need to use a ladder to climb while cutting.

Weed wackers come in a few different kinds, gas weed wackers, electric and cordless. In this article we are going to discuss the benefits and the burdens of owning and using a cordless weed wacker.

By: Evan Schmidt

The first question that always gets asked when discussing weed wackers is, “what is the difference between a weed wacker and a weed eater?” Well, in short – nothing. They both are neighborhood terms, depending on where you grew up, to define in technical terms a “string trimmer”. Since I grew up in CT, and I believe that north easterners more commonly use the term “weed wacker” for sake of argument or in depth discussion in this article, “weed wacker” is what we are going to use.

The cordless weed wacker solves four problems. Problem one is the problem of all electrical weed wackers with a cord and that is mobility. Weed wackers with cords are limited in their area range of service by the length of the power cord they are attached too. Extension cords, usually come in 50 feet, but can come in more or less as well. That means that when you plug in your electric weed wacker, you are extremely limited. If you have a small yard, it might not be a big issue, but most people will find that being connected to the wall by an extension cord, limits the freedom and enjoyment of weed wacking your lawn. Big constraints, with corners of the house, getting by Parked cars in the driveway, bushes, trees, etc.. But with the cordless weed wacker, you can roam freely within your yard, without tripping on, or tying up cords.

Cordless weed wackers solve another problem that gas weed wackers cant. Noise. One of the most annoying things to wake up to on a Saturday morning in the summer is the sound of a gas weed wacker engine buzzing in your ears. With all electric weed wackers, battery operated included, you easily wack weeds at 6am without waking the neighbors.

Problem number three – Weight. With gas powered, the wight can be a little cumbersome, especially if you have a large yard, and/or aren’t in the best shape. 2 and 4 cycle gas engines are known for being alot heavier than cordless weed wackers.

Last and final problem solved is the environment. With electric battery opeated weed wckers, you dont have toi wororry about tleaviung a substantial carbin footprint since their are little to no emmisons unlike their gas brethren.

Now lets look at the downside of owning a battery operated weed wacker. Firstly is the fact they aren’t as mobile as gas ones. Yes they are more mobile than electric weed wackers with cords, but they just don’t stand up to the mobility you get with a gas weed wacker for one simple reason. A tank of gas will last a lot longer than the life of a battery. usually batteries on weed wackers will last around a half an hour some up an hour, but try wacking the toughest weeds in your lawn while all of a sudden the battery starts dying down. Not fun at all!

lastly and probably the biggest issue that people have with cordless weed wackers is the fact that just are not as powerful as gas weed wackers. Gas weed wackers can handle some pretty tough weeds and you really need to research what kinds of weeds you have in your lawn that need to be wacked, and review the electric battery operated weed wackers that you might plan on purchasing just to make sure that customers haven’t complained on their overall power.

There are actually two other hedge trimmers you can choose from. One uses gas while the other uses electricity and it comes with a cord. If your concern is the difficulty in maneuvering, you can always count on gas hedge trimmers and cordless hedge trimmers. Yet if convenience had to be taken into account, too, it is the cordless hedge trimmers that outmatch them all. Cordless hedge trimmers can be moved freely like gas-powered ones and can start up immediately like the electric powered type sans mess in mixing the gas (in the case of gas powered hedge trimmers), noise pollution and tripping over cords. It is also very light weighing as light as 6.5 pounds, thus minimizing exhaustion. It can cut wood as thick as 3/8″ and the blades can easily reach and cut surface. Because cordless hedge trimmers have two blades that move in reverse directions, vibration is actually minimized. Also, most models come with a hand guard and safety switch making the activity of trimming accident-free. If there’s anything to worry about cordless hedge trimmers that would only be its batteries that has be recharged every now and then.

Cordless String Trimmers

Just like your cordless hedge trimmers, you do have two other choices for string trimmers. There’s again a model that uses gas and another one that uses electricity. However, none of the two could again match the convenience that cordless string trimmers can offer you. Not only are they very handy because it’s lightweight, they also present worry-free trimming since no cord has to be dragged around and no power outage will ever stop you from doing the chore. The only two drawbacks that you have to consider in cordless string trimmers are its batteries that have to be occasionally charged and the tendency to have the string manually adjusted although it is released automatically. However these drawbacks are simply unmemorable compared to how your body would have to thank cordless string trimmer’s portability and cleanliness in your long time use.

So why settle anything less when you can get the best of everything in cordless trimmers? You’d better grab one today and make the rest of your trimming life stress-free.
